year. Now 26, Shanteau set the American record in the 200m breaststroke
– his best event — at the 2009 U.S. Championships, and subsequently

Diniz overcomes fall, defends 50K walk title

Yohann Diniz of France successfully defended his European Championships 50-kilometer walk title. Diniz won the men's event in 3 hours, 40 minutes, 37 seconds to earn France's leading third gold in Barcelona and seventh medal overall.

Lemaitre, Idowu, Russians shine on Day 3

With gold in the 100m already secured, France's Christophe Lemaitre advanced to the 200m final at the European Championships in Barcelona. Lemaitre's teammate Teddy Tamgho was beaten by Briton Phillips Idowu in the triple jump. Russia went 1-2 in the high jump.
